Welcome!

Congratulations on taking that huge step in building a brand new home of your own! Whether you're building for the first time or the fifth, we are happy and excited for you.

If you are new to the home building process, then you came to the right place! We have supplied a basic guideline for you to make your home building experience as easy as possible.

Where To Start

Have a budget in mind or pre-approval from your lender. The land purchase will also need to be figured into this budget unless you already have that taken care of.

Next, you will want to search out a contractor of your choice. Carhart Lumber does not employ contractors. If you do not know who to call, each location has a list of quality contractors that they have worked with in the past.

Collect Ideas

Your contractor will give you a general idea of what size of house will fit your budget.

Pick up magazines or search the web for ideas as to how you would like the layout of your new home to look or things that appeal to your taste.

This is especially good for those who aren't very visual people. Sometimes blueprints and drafting layouts aren't the easiest to visualize.

Also consider the size of your home and the way it will fit within the property constrictions.

Make An Appointment

Set up a meeting with your contractor & the draftsman at Carhart Lumber. Here you will customize the design of your new home. After your home is designed, the blueprint is then handed off to one of our experienced salesmen to quote materials. Typically, your contractor will be the prime contact while we organize all of the details and he/she will be in contact with you when it is finished and ready for a final meeting. It takes time and patience, but the reward of your beautiful new home at the end of it, is the best part!
